I began reading the Harry Potter books in 2002 with my daughter "Joc" before she began 1st grade. 3 years later, she's in 4th grade and I've read all 6 books (multiple times) and own all 3 movies, and I'm writing fanfic. "Joc" says I'm definitely more of a Harry Potter geek than she is. And even though he's seen all the movies, I'm starting to read HPSS to my son "Jar" who's now in 1st grade. My love for HP is 24 hours per day!

I got into reading fanfic in December of 2004, following a diagnosis of possible Multiple Sclerosis. Fortunately, my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions all disagree with this diagnosis. In the meantime, the fanfic gave me an escape from my reality and even though I feel a lot better now, the love for fanfic lives on.

I started doing beta work for Fresh Pickled Toad in March, and when she expressed frustration over Mugglenet FF rejecting her chapter, I applied to become a beta over at Checkmated. It took 2 months for the application to be accepted, but once it did we started rolling along.

After publishing her chapter "The Dog Days" on Checkmated, one reviewer said, "Wow, that would be great to do this chapter as an outtake, showing Ron and Hermione's perspective." I decided to give it a shot, and after getting incredible wonderful reviews, I decided to continue doing it and I've become hooked.
